Age group you write for/ genre:     I  enjoy writing in a variety of genres -. For Children - Chapter and Picture books; for Adults-  plays, family history and short stories.

Publications:    Short Story ‘Dear Sam’  in Undertow anthology  2014  published by Prana Writers; ‘The Clancy Kite’ published by Macmillan Education in 1997.  ‘Brown Bear and the Unusual Animal. Self-published  2013. One copy.

Which writer(s) inspire you?         

Lynley Dodds – Hairy Maclary; Hazel Edwards

What draws you to writing for children specifically?     

I believe that ‘staying young at heart’ can be achieved by writing for children.

How long have you been writing?    

I have been writing for as long as I can remember. My first publication was in a high school magazine.

Which professional writing bodies are you a member of?

Australian Society of Authors, Queensland Writers Centre, Australian Writers Guild and Book links.

Best time of day to write: 

I prefer to write in the morning.

What do you do to assist you in writing?

I set a deadline for my projects and belong to a writing group to get feedback on my work. Write Links has been very helpful in this area.

What are your writing goals?      

To be the best writer I can be.

Are there any other creative projects you are working on you would like to share? 

A tribute to my mother to celebrate 100 years since her birth in 1914.

Was there a particular book in your childhood that had a big influence on you?


‘Coles Funny Picture Book.’ Such a variety of fun for children.

If you could meet/invite any 3 children’s writer/illustrator who would they be? 

Jackie French, Mem Fox and Roald Dahl.
